Joel Menchaca passed into the arms of his Savior while surrounded by his family at home in New Braunfels, Texas on March 11, 2019. Joel was born to Miguel and Arnulfa Menchaca in La Gloria, Texas in 1932. Together, he and his wife of 61 years, Amelia Peña Menchaca, had two daughters, Margarita Menchaca Kelly and Marissa Menchaca. Joel was a Korean war veteran and when he returned from service he worked as a truck driver and for HEB as a butcher. Joel was an exemplary man in every role God gave him - son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. He devoted his life to protecting and providing for his family and to serving God. Joel is predeceased by his daughter, Marissa, his parents Miguel and Arnulfa, and 5 brothers and one sister. He also follows in death his grandchildren Richard Kelly, Jr. and Angelina Kelly, and great-grandson John Joel Bagnulo. He is survived by his wife Amelia, his daughter and son in-law Margarita and Richard Kelly, his grandchildren Ashleen Bagnulo, Aubrey Kelly, Amberly Kelly and Robert Kelly and grandson-in-law Vince Bagnulo and granddaughter-in-law Courtney Kelly, his great-granddaughters Margarita and Ysabel Bagnulo, his siblings Beto and Homero, Eulalia, Maria Cecilia, Juanita and Eudelia, and many family members who love him deeply. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 20, 2019, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in New Braunfels, Texas. Interment will follow at 1:45 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, where honors will be rendered and services will conclude. Pallbearers are Homero Menchaca, Richard Kelly, Robert Kelly, Vince Bagnulo, Gene Potter, Alfredo Trevino, Carlos Trevino and Louis Narro.
