Joe Luis Huerta, 54, of Del Rio, Texas, went to be with Our Lord on July 3, 2019. He was born on July 12, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Maria H. Huerta and the late Jose Huerta Jr. He was a graduate of Del Rio High School and an accomplished cabinet maker, following in the footsteps of his late father and brothers. He also shared their love of baseball, serving as a coach for Babe Ruth and Little League Baseball. Joe Luis was a loving son and brother, who watched over and cared for his mom, and was always willing to help someone in need. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially barbecuing and listening to country music in his backyard, near the San Felipe Creek. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns, just like his late brother and best friend, Robert. Joe Luis is survived by his mother Maria H. Huerta; sisters Terri Reyes (Martin) of San Angelo, Texas, Janie Samarripa (Tom) of Odessa, Texas, Hilda Jewell (Steve) of Wiesbaden, Germany and Carmen Bautista (Henry) of San Angelo, Texas; and brothers Jose Huerta III (Eva) of Del Rio, Texas, Pedro Huerta of Del Rio, Texas, Adolfo Huerta (Theresa) of Grove City, Ohio, Gilberto Huerta (Kim) of Berlin, Maryland and Leonardo Huerta (Debbie) of San Antonio, Texas. Special sisters Erica Huerta (Maico) Ft. Worth, Texas and Anabel Saldivar (Petie) Kyle, Texas He was a lifelong Christian and will be reunited in the Kingdom of Heaven with his father Jose Huerta Jr., sister Mary H. Coronado and brother Roberto Huerta. Joe Luis will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 5:00PM to 9:00 PM; Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Felipe Cemetery.
