It is with great sadness that the family of Hector Federico Flores announces his passing on Monday, August 10, 2020 at the age of 54. He was born on January 11, 1966, in Esquipulas, Chiquimula, Guatemala, to Federico Murcia and Maria de La Paz Flores. He is a veteran of the Guatemalan Airborne Special Forces (Kaibiles), where he served with distinction as a 1SG, and conducted jungle operations for several years. Hector lived in Martindale for 27 years, after moving to the United States in 1989, and was employed by H-E-B for 22 years. Some of Hector's greatest joys involved gardening, yard work, and taking a quick dip in the river after work. He never passed up an opportunity to listen to cumbias and barbeque for family and friends. Hector cherished life's simple pleasures, being punctual, and was as good as his word. Hector was a very loving father and grandfather. His legacy will be his Grandchildren's endless memories of Grandpa Hector's summer traditions. Like lessons on how to properly throw a casting net, fishing, swimming, and cooking his "special" breakfast meals. Hector's kind heart and positive spirit will forever remind us of who we should continue to be in this world as we are left with the memories of him that will carry us for the rest of our lives. Hector is survived by his beloved wife Paula Flores; children Edna, Macdiel, Jenny, Moses, and Daniel; grandchildren Rosemary, Sandra, Keylor, Cristian, and Alejandro; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and life long friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, in New Braunfels, TX. The chapel service will be at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery in Maxwell, TX.
