Gilbert Garcia, 74, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on October 4th, 1947, in Del Rio, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca T. Garcia; parents, Lorenza and Jesse Garcia; parents-in-law, Albertina and Jesus Tarin; brother, Richard Garcia; sisters, Frances Cecilia Guerrero and Rosario (Chayo) Sanchez. Gilbert is survived by his daughter, Valerie Sauceda; son, Joe Montez (Margie); son, John Montez (Gracie); brother, Jose Ruben Garcia (Elvira); brother, Hector Garcia; sister, Teresa Zurita (Armando); sister, Gerri Paredes (Eddie); brother-in-law, Polo Treviño; along with numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gilbert proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era; he taught and retired from Dr. Lonnie Green Elementary School at the San Felipe-Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District. Gentlemen with the honor of serving as pallbearers will be Joey Gonzalez, Nick Salas, Matias Gandar, Hector Garcia, Jr., Lewis Gandar, and Michael Ramos. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
