Obituary

Concepcion V. Gutierrez, age 66, entered into rest on Monday, January 11, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on December 8, 1954. Connie passed away on January 11, 2021, after a brief illness. Connie was born in San Antonio, Texas, on December 8, 1954. She attended Harlandale High School in San Antonio and graduated from the University of Texas-San Antonio on August 14, 1979. Connie received her Master's degree from Sul Ross University on August 16, 1986. She was a wonderful Kindergarten teacher and taught in the San Felipe Del Rio Independent School District for 41 years. Over the course of her teaching career, she touched the lives of hundreds of students and families, as well as being a mentor for many beginning teachers. She continually updated her vast knowledge in order to constantly improve her teaching skills. Connie will be missed by many students, staff, families, and wonderful friends. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Agapita Gutierrez, brothers-in-law, Mel Gomez, Joe Sosa and Richard Masella, and her mother-in-law, Josefina C. Solis, Del Rio, Texas. Connie is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jaime Solis, and his 6 brothers and sisters-in-law: Benito and Maria Dolores Solis of San Antonio, Texas, Francisco and Maria Antonieta Solis of El Mirage, Arizona, Humberto (deceased) and Leonore Solis of Kansas City, Kansas, Juan Manuel and Maria Solis of McAllen, Texas, Juan Jesus and Linda Solis of Spring Branch, Texas, and Jose Luis Fabela (deceased) and Dolores Fabela of Del Rio, Texas. Connie will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Connie is survived by her 5 sisters and 3 brothers-in-law: Janie and Joe Gomez, San Antonio, Texas, Gloria Sosa, San Antonio, Texas, Elvira Gomez, San Antonio, Texas, Alice and Robert Rodriguez, New Braunfels, Texas, Irene and Ysidro Perez, Somerset, Texas. Connie is also survived by her brother, Ignacio and sister-in-law, Maria Gutierrez, San Antonio, Texas. Connie will always be in our hearts and lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Connie enjoyed baking and sewing as well as a variety of other arts and crafts. She loved sharing all of the fruits of her labors with family and friends. Connie was also the "family photographer." She took pictures of every event from marriages, to births and adoptions and family summer reunions. She artfully and lovingly created photo albums for every family member. Because of her dedication to and love for her family, we all have those treasured memories forever. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Gentlemen with the honor of pallbearers; Jaime A. Solis, Juan Jesus Solis, Benito Solis, Joe Gomez, Ysidro H. Perez, III and Ysidro H. Perez, IV. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
