Now is the time to grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice and no one will take away your joy. -John 16:22.
Antonio Tovar Martinez, Entered into Eternal Rest on January 8, 2021 in Del Rio, Texas. Antonio was 84 years old.
Antonio had a great life and made the most of every situation. Antonio was a dedicated husband to Oralia and had great love for all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Antonio dedicated 25 years of work with Texas Department of transportation Services. Never complained and felt blessed to be healthy and provide for his family. Antonio's week did not end on Fridays. Antonio spent a life of service and spent a lot of time at St. Joseph Church. If he wasn't volunteering to cook or assist with a church function, he was singing with the Coro De Renovacion. Loved to play his guitar and sing. Many people learned to play guitar because of our dad. The special thing about this is, it will continue in the family as some of his daughters, grandchildren and nephews have picked up the gift of playing like dad.
Our father was well known as the Church bus driver. The children from Cienegas/Chaparral area would catch a ride to Mass and CCD from our dad every weekend. We continue to hear stories from some of these children that are now grown up. It's nice to hear when people noticed what a nice and happy man he was. Always known to be singing or humming a church hymn. We never remember dad being angry or upset. His patience and love for kids and just people in general was notable and we love that people remember this about him. Dad would always reach for his cross on his necklace. We could hear him whisper a prayer or just hear him giving thanks to God. Everything our dad did, it was with God First. Every chance dad got to teach this to his family, his grandchildren, anyone, he would.
We have so many happy memories of dad singing, dancing and just being joyful. We will never forget these memories and we will talk about them always. Life will not be the same with you not here. Knowing we will meet again gives us great solace.
Antonio is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Oralia Martinez. His children Jose Luis Martinez(Guadalupe), Ricardo Martinez, Esmeralda Martinez, Rosalinda M.
