Alonzo Sanchez Soto, age 91, entered into rest on Monday, December 4, 2023 in Del Rio, Texas. He was born on July 21, 1932. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Alicia Avila Soto; son Mario Soto; his parents Jesus Soto and Santa Sanchez Soto; his brothers Miguel and José Luvίn Soto; and great-grandson Jeremiah Sandoval.

Alonzo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather who valued and set the example for love and unity in the family. He was known for his beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor. Alonzo was a lifetime Masonry Contractor until a debilitating injury, due to years of hard work that caused him to retire at the age of 65. He leaves behind a compilation of works of art throughout the city, most notably the limestone work of our courthouse here in Del Rio. This passion of his was a skill that was passed down to him by his father and grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons Alonzo Soto, Jr., (Irma), and Eloy Soto, (Nina); his daughters Tina Valdez, (Luis), Eva Ozuna, (Oscar), and Diana Yandell, (Clay); 16 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Val Verde Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care that they provided for our parents during their two year stay there; and to Hospice of Del Rio whose staff truly cares for the patient's comfort and needs.
